What you're downloading

Three ways to run Blurt, one account.

Mac: Blurt.dmg

The full app for macOS 14 (Sonoma) or newer. Drag Blurt into Applications and open it: it lives in the menu bar as a mic icon, with no dock icon. Speech-to-text runs on your Mac, and the app keeps itself up to date.

Windows: Blurt-win-Setup.exe

The full app for Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. It is self-contained, so there is no .NET to install, and it is code-signed by sdereks, llc. It sits in the system tray, transcribes on your PC, and keeps itself up to date.

Chrome: the extension

Installs from the Chrome Web Store and works wherever Chrome runs, including Chromebooks. Click the floating Blurt bubble on any web page and talk. In Chrome, speech recognition is done by Chrome's built-in speech service, not on your device.

After you download

  • Sign in with your email and a one-time code. There is no password, and every Blurt client uses the same account.
  • On Mac, Blurt walks you through each permission it needs (Microphone, Speech Recognition, Accessibility, Input Monitoring). On Windows, first run grants the microphone and sets your push-to-talk key.
  • Hold your key, talk, and release. Your words land wherever your cursor is. Double-tap the key for hands-free.
  • The free plan gives you 2,500 words a week with no card. Finish the guided setup and you get 2 weeks of Premium free.

Step-by-step install for each platform is on the Setup page. Stuck on a permission or a key? See Troubleshooting. Plans and prices are on Pricing.
